Unger was an old man who often came to the Oasis bar that was owned by his friend Earl Ford. On October 31, 1988 Unger listened to the news report that all Haddonfield citizens were ordered to go home and stay indoors. Earl wanted to find out the reason for this and called the police station, only to find that no one would pick up. Earl took Unger and the rest of his friends with him to find out what was going on and went towards the police station.
Once they arrived at the police station, they learned that Michael Myers was back and so Unger's friends decided it was time for revenge and searched around town for him. Orrin thought he found the murderer in the bushes and he, along with his friends, got out of the truck and shoot at the bushes. Thinking the nightmare was over, Unger and his friends checked the body and discovered that it was not Myers but Ted Hollister.
The group continued their search and evenutally heard the alarm at the Haddonfield Elementary School. They drove over there and found Rachel Carruthers and her foster sister Jamie Lloyd running away and told them that Myers was inside. Rachel told them they needed to get out of the town and the men decided to let the police handle it. As they were driving away from town, none of them had noticed that Myers was underneath the truck. Michael climbed in the back bed of the truck and killed Orrin by stabbing him in the back, then pierced Al's stomach, killing him and pushed both corpses off the truck.
Possibly due to his old age, Unger did not hear what was going on, and Michael picked him up and threw him off the moving truck, killing him. He was buried in the Mt. Sinclair Cemetery in November 1988.
He is the 32nd human victim of Michael Myers.
