John Michael Graham is an American actor and writer. In the Halloween series, he is known for the role of Bob Simms in Halloween.

Halloween[]

Graham got the role of Bob Simms after Dennis Quaid (P. J. Soles' real-life husband at the time) dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. Soles helped casting Bob and picked John out of three actors that read for the part, saying he was handsome and they connected. According to Graham, Director John Carpenter wanted him to wear Ray-Ban glasses as Bob, but Graham thought Ray Bans were very uncool and opted to use the ones he brought with him, a pair of Safilo glasses, which Carpenter ultimately agreed to with the condition that that exact pair of glasses would be used until filming was done, including the scene in which Michael Myers dresses up as a ghost wearing Bob's glasses.

Notes and trivia[]

  • Graham's one other film credit is as an extra in the 1978 classic musical Grease, starring Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta. He was a dancer in said film and actually broke his foot, however, this led to him getting his Screen Actors Guild card.
  • According to Graham himself, he quit acting because he was not a fan of the long process of having to go on auditions. He eventually found himself working at Disney World in Florida at the suggestion of a friend who worked on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Graham much preferred performing at Disney World over acting on camera, as there was no such long audition process to get cast there.
  • Graham appeared on commercials for Dr. Pepper.
  • According to Graham, he was part of the Young Actors Company, which performed local plays, and this lead to him getting an agent.
  • He started a YouTube Channel in 2023 called John and Louie's Big Adventure. In one video at a horror convention, he revealed that he was the actor that played Bob Simms in Halloween, along with the trivia items mentioned above.[1]
